January 2023 - Jason Schreiner, Prout Institute

We are excited to host Jason Schreiner for a live Zoom interview.  Please join us.

Bio: Jason Schreiner serves as President of PROUT Institute, based in Eugene, Oregon, and is also Associate Director of the Teaching Engagement Program at the University of Oregon, where he teaches graduate seminars in engaged pedagogy and courses on social and environmental justice. He has been studying and presenting on alternative economic systems and social movements for economic and environmental justice for more than two decades.

Topic: Integrated Permaculture Economy
Description: Permaculture has evolved from its origins as an approach to “permanent agriculture” and “permaculture culture” to embrace notions such as “social permaculture” and even – despite Bill Mollison’s claims to the contrary – the “politics of permaculture,” as Terry Leahy puts it. In this session we’ll add the dimension of economics to the discussion and consider what an integrated permaculture economy might look like and how we begin now to design and build it.

Join us Jan 24 at 7 PM Pacific Time on Zoom at this link.   ~ ~ ~ There is no charge.

Topic:  Testing Notions of Resilience
Description:
This is no time for small plans!
First though, prior to the pandemic, City Repair had successfully completed more than 1,000 permaculture based community projects in Portland, Oregon. As the pandemic ensued, our social and technical systems struggled until we nearly collapsed. Not entirely though, and we are still standing. Come hear the big news of what we have planned for a more ambitious year than ever before!  Audience dialogue invited during and after this talk.
