Permaculture Convergence
Growing Permaculture in Practice in Cascadia

2020 is a year for Cultivating Community!  To do this best we see small workshops being hosted across the region, with a digital home-base to keep us all connected. We will follow our traditional schedule of Thursday night to Sunday night, live-streaming opening and closing circles, keynotes and all workshops.  A digital format anchored with real small gatherings across the land allows us to be super inclusive, flexible on our pricing and share the value of permaculture teaching for maximum impact.
Please submit your offering here!  Thanks!

Different for this year: there will be more scholarships and a low ticket price. Our children’s program is “at your own pace” with a digital color book you can print out, linked to videos of a short lesson plan and fun projects connected to each design principle. We will be donating 1/2 of all proceeds to social and environmental justice groups in alignment with permaculture ethos of earth-care, fair-share and people-care, do you have an organization we should support?
Please let us know! And get involved!

We would like to thank Laura Sweany for her time served on the board.  Laura has decided to resign from the board after many years serving the community, we wish her well in her future endeavors.

Laura Sweany is a 5th generation Washingtonian, Laura has been an active member of the permaculture community since her first PDC in 2004. She helped coordinate The Convergence in 2008-10, and was back as Event Coordinator for 2018. After working on urban agriculture practices in Seattle (where she lived for over half a century), she made the break to Lewis County and 10 acres on which to practice broadacre permaculture systems and land stewardship. She is also one of the founding members of Lewis County Permaculture Society on Facebook, and can be reached via www.alwaysgrowingdesign.weebly.com.

The ORGANIZATION:

Northwest Permaculture Convergence (NWPCC) is a Washington state 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Its purpose is to provide education in the use of Permaculture as a powerful tool for helping to design and bring into being a culture and economy that can fit far better within the boundaries of Planet Earth.  NWPCC is organized by a volunteer Board that oversees the year-to-year organizing of the annual Northwest Permaculture Convergence (The Convergence), as well as several new projects designed to increase networking and build resilience within the Permaculture community.

The EVENT:

Entering its 13th year, the annual Northwest Permaculture Convergence (The Convergence) is an inclusive weekend-long event that alternates between the states of Oregon and Washington. The Convergence brings together a remarkable diversity of people to share their creative approaches for designing living environments, economic systems, and culture practices that thrive within ecologically sustainable limits. Long time enthusiasts and beginners alike pilgrimage from every corner of the Cascadian Bioregion, to educate on their successes (and failures!). Dozens of workshops and skillshares happen simultaneously all weekend long, making The Convergence a rich and valuable resource within our community.

The Board of Directors oversees event management and is fiscally responsible for each year's event. NWPCC teams up with local communities for 'Shoulder Events”,' supporting our allies with tours, panel discussions, workshops, and classes. Every year, the organization offers a number of volunteer and work trade positions. Ride shares, home stays and food donations can be arranged.
